Looking Fly on a Dime

When it comes to fashion there are a few things I look for: style, quality, fit, and price. I used to be the type of shopper who would not hesitate to drop more than a few dollars on ALL of my shoes, purses, jeans, etc. Times have changed. I’ve gotten smarter with my money but I still like to have clothes that look and feel good, with a mix of designer pieces infused into my style. Looking fly on a dime is becoming my specialty!

There are many e-Retailers that make my shopping goals easier. Some are definitely better than others, I’ve made a bad purchase or two in the past. One really stands out. I remember this oversized, lace-up sweater that was all the rage on Instagram and Pinterest during the winter. I saw it a couple of times on a few of my favorite IGers before I decided I had to have it. When that sweater finally arrived in my mailbox and I opened it, my eagerness quickly turned into laughter combined with frustration. I ordered according to the size guide, which was still “small” for me. The sweater looked like a short mini-skirt on my frame. Plus it was boxy! My boyfriend asked, “are you sure you didn’t order the dress?” I was positive. I knew then that the sweater had been heavily staged in the pictures I’d seen. Not even a week later another IGer I follow had the same sweater, worn as a dress, with knee-length boots. She turned lemons into lemonade. My butt is too big, it hikes up everything, giving that unintended high/low effect. That would not have worked for me. LOL.

I think I found a new e-Retailer that will live up to my expectations. SheIn not only has some on-trend, fashionable items on its site, but they also carry everyday staples for your wardrobe. But the fun stuff is where it’s at. I’m talking, about boho chic, maxi dresses, gingham, and of course, off-the-shoulder looks. If you’ve got a thing for embroidered denim, you will have a sweet selection to choose from on SheIn.

It was love at first sight with this one-shoulder, black statement bodysuit. My emotions and styling visions went from one extreme to the other. I initially felt I could channel my inner Carrie Bradshaw, a la “Sex and the City.” But this one-shoulder bodysuit also gives me major Lady Gaga vibes. I love the versatility of this bodysuit; very chic and lady-like (the way I’ve currently styled it) or major edge with leather leggings or heavily frayed skinny jeans. There is so much fun to be had.

This bodysuit from SheIn fits perfectly and it’s also comfortable. It definitely meets the qualifications of looking fly on a dime. Comfort in a bodysuit is not always easy when you’ve got a nice-sized peach (wink). I am also looking forward to their swimsuits (which are very affordable) to see if I have the same success. By the way, if you love this double-mesh, panel skirt, I've linked it here for you. Similar heels are here.

Have you shopped SheIn yet? I’d love to hear your thoughts about the experience.
